Bullshit. This game is a perfect example of crap referring. That was a clear booking for Mastroeni, nothing more. The referring has been shit the whole game. They even called that offsides wrong denying Italy a goal. DiRossi's elbow was violent, simply violent. You cannot in any way couch it in nicer terms. He threw his elbow into McBride's face. Mastroeni came into the tackle late. It happens.

If the Italians could manage to stand up rather than fall down every time some one so much as touches them it would be great. Bunch of f-ing drama queens.

Arena has every justification for protesting the officiating. It's crap.

On a related note, what the hell are the commentators talking about that the red for Mastroeni was a "make up call"? For what?

i'll tell you who is really messing up. eddie pope. he already has ayellow card and he is stil commiting foul after foul. he continues like this, he's going to get a second yellow. there was one play where he clearly obstructed the italian, and then he complained about the call like he didn't know what he had done.

What the fuck is he talking about? Another yellow for Pope and you fucking send him off? You have to be fucking kidding me.

FIFA needs to send this guy packing and give him a couple years off from international duty. He's horrible.

Again MP, BULLSHIT. It's from the side. You pull a player aside and tell them "no more." This is a travesty.

he already had a yellow, and commited many fouls in the first half. the referee has no reason to pull him aside. i know that you're rooting for the u.s. but you're wrong on that call.

I disagree 100%. I have never in my life seen a ref call a game like this.

aaaaaaargh, the ref finally gets an offsides call right...

Anyway back to what I was saying. I can be objective and often have to be or else I would officially be the town crank (because we don't win many big matches). The Pope call was, well, un-called for.

And there's yet another Italian on the turf. Are they made of glass?

I can take hope by remembering that in all probability another Italian will be sent off any minute the way this ref's going.

Yeah, McBride looks a little tired and too many opportunities are coming at his feet. Put Johnson in.

A couple nice saves by Kasey.
