I recently ordered a few suits from Samuelsohn, some of which are MTM. I am curious about the placement of the working surgeon cuffs. The button nearest the sleeve's end measures about an inch or an inch and a quarter from the sleeve's end. Alan Flusser's "Dressing the Man" p. 90. mentions that surgeon cuffs are supposed to be placed no more than 3/4 inch from the sleeve's end.

Is this something to be concerned about or I'm I being anal?

I wish someone would answer this, too. I bought a suit on ebay with the working cuffs but the sleeves need to be lengthened. So I'm wondering if it will look strange to have that much space between the bottom button and the end of the sleeve. Help!!

It probably will, the sleeve length should be correct before the button holes are cut. This of course is the problem with second hand clothes.

Flusser is merely stating his opinion and the difference is within reasonable tolerance. Don't worry.

There must be some kind of guideline as to the distance between the bottom button and the end of the sleeve... And who is this Flusser dude anyway who keeps getting quoted...and he makes polyester suits????
