Working Buttonholes in Manhattan

Yeah, do you really need them on a formal item?

I've seen them on bespoke and Brioni but still.

I still think of them as surgeon's cuffs.

So, on a tux:

"Dr. James Bond! Dr. James Bond to Emergency!"

Actually, in my personal opinion, I think that working buttonholes on a tuxedo and a blue blazer are vital. Because they have those really thick buttons that kind of stand out, I think they look ridiculous hanging off the sleeve and just kind of flopping around at the end there. Having real buttonholes solves this problem. Only the top of the button pushes through the buttonhole, not the base thing that stands out from the sleeve.

Perhaps, but I was able to pick up a very nice tux (one button, peak lapel, minimal side vents, incredible fabric) on ebay a while back and I thought it would just make a nice personal touch --plus, there is the sleekness factor as described later in the this thread. They just look better to my eye. Besides, no one but me will notice anyway.
