I work in a professional environment where it's not a good idea to dress down in t shirts and jeans. The dress is generally office casual, bordering on fashion tragedy at times.

I'm in the middle of my transformation. I have a couple pairs of nice flat front pants, and a number of fitted dress shirts. Of course, some office (or office casual) black and brown lace ups and slip ons.

The one thing I don't have is a blazer to complete the office look. Those are expensive, and if I'm going to drop $150-200, I want it to look great in it and so I'm spending some time finding something I like.

In the meantime, is it appropriate to wear a big down jacket just to keep me warm until I get to the office? Obviously, I'd prefer a blazer but I'm still shopping for one, and I need to stay warm.
