i used these doing forestry type work for a year or so. the 8287, i think. if you're just doing landscaping, you don't need a steel toe. the toe on these is pretty strong though. kept a big cut of a tree trunk from smashing my toes.

looked like this when new [not my pic].

if i were you, though, i'd forget about style and get some merrells or something. that's what i replaced these with and they were lighter and more comfortable.

The hem is 19cm on what waist size? If you're a 27, that's a pretty wide hem measurement, but if you're a 34 that's slim.

I killed it? I'm sorry. I did some research, and red wing makes a pretty reliable steel toe line. If that's what you need. Sorry.

i say, Red Wings or White's lace-to-toe Smoke Jumper or Northwest [if you care for the best]__ get something a bit wider than you normally wear [for added comfort]__ e.i., D>E, E>2E, etc. check ebay for great discounts. you can get RWs for even less than 100 and White's from around 120 [400+ retail].

this thread ******* sucks because of doin fine

anyway, here's a fun story:

when I stopped by the alden store a few months ago to try on some indys, a fireman had just dropped off two of his pairs to get resoled. were totally ******* amazing looking - I should've taken pictures.

'can't work in them' ******. apparently the store sells the majority of their indys to firemen, construction workers and contractors
