A few weeks ago, I purchased from Brooks Brothers my first ascot (navy silk with brown ovals). At $17US the price was right, and I felt the expenditure wasn't too extravagant to justify a little sartorial experimentation. So last weekend, I wore it for the first time, with a white, short-sleeved linen camp style shirt, light brown vintage Hollywood waist trousers and a pair of brown/canvas spectators. I must admit I was surprised. It felt neither affected nor foppish, and was a very nice look. I was also amazed by how little attention it (and I) garnered. I'm curious if there are any fellow travelers here. If memory serves, Jan Libourel and Tom Hudson (cuffthis) have dabbled with the ascot/neckscarf look. Are there others among us?
