I need to establish a web presence. I've bought a domain name and I'll have a site, but I've been thinking about wordpress as a promotional platform for my work.

Does anyone have experience with it? It is user-friendly? How does it stack compared with blogging software? Any major beefs?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Those are very broad questions.

Wordpress, like most modern web apps, is very customizable with themes, extensions/plugins, etc.

I use it for my blog (which is not clothing related). It is very user friendly. Very easy to post and modify things. I also like their dashboard. I think they are also quite good in getting cross-traffic between related blogs.
I don't have any experience with other platforms - so I cannot compare.
