Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum here. I've been lurking

some years now and have learned a great deal and have built a pretty decent wardrobe from reading you guys posts. Since winter is upon us here in Michigan, I would like to invest in some nice quality wool ties without breaking the bank. I live in the Detroit Metro area, more specifically Canton, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as far as where, what to look for, what I should be paying, etc. Thanks in advance. Also, reading these shoe threads sure does bring down one's self esteem....damn.

Another option is Land's End, where the ties cost a bit more than that.

When I was in the Beverly Hills Polo Shop, there were a modest number of good-looking woolen ties for sale. I think the price was $95 if memory serves. I don't know if this is out of budget or whether there is a Polo Shop in the Detroit area, though.

I just got a wool tie with little insignia on it from the Polo outlet. I think I remember seeing a few wool ties at the Brooks Brothers outlet.

For plaid ties I have just started buying them off Scottish tartan sites. I haven't gotten them in the mail yet but they seem cheap in comparison to a clothing store. You can get the popular Blackwatch tartan too. I just got some Thompson ones, which look like Burberry.

I just ordered from www.scottishcroft.com and www.scotlandforever.net
The ties have not come in yet though since they are on backorder.
