Wool Sofa Blanket: Alpaca, Chennile, Scottish wool, Merino, Virgin, Mohair, etc?

I want a high quality blanket that could be used on the sofa while watching a movie? (very thick, heavy, etc) Something that immediately feels like a different caliber than a $5 Walmart polyester blanket. I'd like to keep this under $100, so cashmere is out. Can anyone compare or say anything about Alpaca, Scottish wool, Merino, Virgin, Mohair, etc? Is Scottish wool worth the premium over Alpaca wool? I have a Johnstons of Elgin that I purchased at sierratradingpost. Looks like they still have several varieties (wool and cashmere blend). Classic looks and very warm.

Williams Sonoma Home has a cashmere throw for $200. I have one, and it is soft and warm. I recommend it.

Very thick and heavy and warm enough to sleep under, the chenile throw from Restoration Hardware is excellent. We have two.

STP usually have some of the Johnstons in stock. This would be my choice for around 60-70. If you want to step up I would go with Drake's lambswool.

Mine is an alpaca-wool blend. Soft, cozy, extremely warm. Might check eBay -- mine didn't come from there, but I know there are some reasonable alpaca sellers.
