Gentlemen,

I came across a wool/alpaca blend Polo blazer on huge discount; however, I noticed that the surface of the jacket seems have some fiber sticking out.....is it damaged goods or just the nature of the material itself?

Alpaca is very soft and fuzzy. The fuzz will commence with the first wear.

If the fabric is still intact, no problem.

Are we talking pills (balls of fiber stuck to the surface) or pulls (loops of yarn pulled out of the surface? Or just fuzz on the surface? Only pulls are really a defect/damage. Pills and fuzz can be shaven off with a fabric shaver.

Like mack said, alpaca is naturally quite fuzzy. But if you've got some excess that you'd like removed, buy a package of cheap disposable single-blade razors and go to work on the garment.
