I just won a pair of brand new AE Park Avenue's in Burgundy for under $130 and I am quite excited (yes small timer!)

This is a pretty big step for me since two month ago I thought DSW natha studio shoes for $35 were sweet (yes newb)

I know I'll probs get some snide comments about AE but this is quite the upgrade from my Bostonians

Congratulations on your good purchase. Use caution or you will have a new addiction.

Try to get a pair of the Stanton in the Walnut and the Fifth Avenue in Brown. That will start you with a modest rotation that you can "observe" how the different colors and styles pair with different events and clothing colors.

I would also suggest the purchase of some Meltonian shoe cream in black and also the conditioner or the one from Lexol. I have a black pair of the PAs from the 80s that still serve me pretty well. It is interesting how they age and improve when regularly polished and conditioned. Also keep wooden shoe trees in them when not wearing to maintain the shape and help with moisture.

Congrats
Make sure to buy some shoe trees and some shoe care products.
Right now Allen Edmonds is having a sale with free shipping. I just bought some leather lotion for like $7 and paid no shipping.

E polish is perfect. The first time I used it on my walnut pair, It looked like shoe leather was oozing out of the tube. I couldn't believe how well it matched.

The AE products are generally pretty good and worth considering if you want to exactly match some of the more unusual colors. However it is pretty pricey and not particularly better than Meltonian.

This site has the Meltonian products pretty cheap at 1.09 a jar. Get several blacks and some conditioner and cleaner.

This is a noob question, but when you say you won those shoes, does it mean you got it off ebay? I can't seem to find AE shoes anywhere else at more than a 20% discount

What color meltonian cream should I get for the Burgundy shoes?

Their burgundy looks light. Im thinking maybe the dark cordovan/burgundy or the cordovan?

Anyone tried them?

A new pair? That's fantastic. I won a pair of used ones for about $80 the other day which I thought was fine, given that burgundy is a less common colour, but $130 for a new pair is great.

Nice! Thanks for sharing this link, usually Meltonian is $4. I do have a hard time trying to match color though...
