Hi guys, looking for some input. I'm shopping for some better quality jeans to wear when I'm riding my motorcycle, and have recently started to like the look of selvedge too, so I like the idea of combining the two. I'm still a little lost when it comes to navigating raw denim options though, so I thought I'd ask you all for your thoughts on these items before I make a purchase. I saw Freeriders Co. on my ig feed last night and I'm thinking of ordering the selvedge jeans (with optional armor) and the black selvedge vest. Thoughts on these?

Never heard of free riders but there are several companies that make raw selvedge denim for the ladies. Railcar Fine Goods and 3sixteen are 2 that I know of offhand. There are more but can recall who

I've seen the railcar line, but I'm digging the price point of the freeridersco ones more. I think I'm going to give them a shot

After doing some more reading, I don't know that the selvedge option makes sense for me for riding. But I think I might give those a shot because they seem more affordable than other options I've seen ($74 for cone mill). I wonder how the freeriders jeans compares to the railcar ones. Has anyone seen either of these in person? Would love to compare. They have a moto jean that's woven with kevlar, and I'm thinking that would be my best bet for riding.

Hi themotochic! I would be careful with this one. People are getting burned by some of these start ups that over promise and under deliver... Perhaps even by the same people starting this brand. Try Iron Heart for motorcycle jeans; expensive as hell, but they are some of the best jeans money can buy. Extra long staple cotton, super duper heavy selvedge fabrics, softer than baby kittens, hard as nails, crazy nice details, hidden rivets and the like… The 555 cut is said to be a lovely cut for women. Good luck.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
