Sorry to bombard this thread, is Penguin beeswax sno-seal the same as atsko sno-seal seen here?
See my post in the other thread....
oh man, costar got rid of all but one pair (size 12) of the tan addison, I would have definitely picked those up for 50% off.
I picked up a pair of the austens
Is there any reason not to treat the predator leather with obenauf's LP in the same way as the chromexcel?
How does the predator leather feel? Compared to CXL?
Wow I hadn't seen the Austens before. They look pretty cool.
Here's another pic.
Also like these , the Winchester, a half brogue in tan:
unfortunately I don't own any CXL. this horween blog post on CXL describes predator as follows
Quote: The leather does feel waxy (more obvious in indigoeagle's pic). I'm wondering if the fact it's waxed means rubbing stuff on it won't have much effect.
The horween guy recommends using neatsfoot on CXL, on the ground that it's the last thing they put on it at the factory.
I really like the Austens but couldn't justify a $100 premium over standard 1K's.

I've got a fit question - I've got the Red Wing Beckmans in a size 9.
I'm going to pull the trigger on the Wolverine 1000 Mile Montague Chelsea boots - should I get a 9 or an 8.5?
If it's waxed, I would probably just clean it with saddle soap. Leather that's boiled in or treated with wax will have its pores all clogged up. To make use of LP you'd have to heat it up substantially, which could kill the waxy finish.
Yeah, just get some saddle soap and enjoy your express-ticket to nice patina.
CXL and Predator leather are almost identical. The difference is Predator is tumbled after tanning. Same advice I've given for CXL care and maintenance applies to Predator.
I am really torned between the rust or brown, which one should i get?!
Flip a coin! LOL!
brown for sure, of course i don't have the rust, so i guess i'm a little biased. i'm definitely looking to get some more brown cxl in my life tho.
I chose rust and I'm glad I did.
I chose brown with my Indy, and Black Cherry and Black with my Redwing Beckmans.
Variety is the spice of life.
