Hi guys, I'm currently travelling through Chicago (beautiful city!) and will also be in NYC for 8 nights.

Just wondering what (if any) winter clothes (coats, sweaters, etc) are available or on sale and where I can grab some good deals before I return to Australia (winter's approaching!).

Any help appreciated... would most of the generic brands have some winter selection available (J Crew, Banana Republic, etc)?

Do most of your shopping in NY. The selection of everything will make you weep.

I think the only place you're gonna find wool items this time of year is at discount chains; ie: Century 21, Filene's, Daffy's.

Thanks guys.... will check those out in NYC. I'm sure some of the bigger chains will also have a few sales / winter leftovers! Fingers crossed!

When you are in NYC go to the Barny's COOP on 18th St in Chelsea. They should have a pretty nice selection right now. That place has never disappointed me!

Also check out Tokyo 7 on 7th in the East Village. They are a consignment shop but deal with high end brands like Dior, Cloak, AnnD, etc.... I've seen coats in there during the summer and they are cheap!

Thanks BrettChaotix, how 'cheap' is cheap? Any indication on price range?

not thrift store prices but cheaper than sample sales. about 30-50 for shirts depending on the designer. coats may run differently depending on who made them.
