Hi

Looking to buy an affordable winter cologne (I'm in upstate ny)

Any recommendations? I have a bottle of Cool Water by Davidoff...would that be OK as a winter cologne?

Thanks! Some of the colognes I saw on sale on SF include Gucci by Gucci, Gucci II, and The One by D&G. Would those work?

Yep, another excellent one for the $ - Amazing $12.50 scent Men's Fitness Mag Sez While the straightforward, simple bottle appeals to your minimalist, clean, uncomplicated side the complex blend of grapefruit, cardamom, bay rum, cedarwood, and sandalwood still leaves you with a mysterious air.

Generally you would want a heavier cologne for winter so you'd want to avoid the light watery scents and such. I like the oriental, woody scents. Not familiar with the colognes you listed but you can check them out on like basenotes or frangrancenet to see what people think of them. I personally like Gucci envy for winter.

Best affordable cologne ever is Drakkar Noir.

I'm sure others will have different opinions, but my experience has been that women really like this scent. (I like it too.)

Are you either
a) Indian
b) Between the ages 38-46?

I've never met a girl/woman under 30 who likes it.

I'm neither Indian nor between those ages...(who'd be in college at that age...DeVry University and University of Phoenix students excepted)

Context clues suggest that HgaleK's question was meant for Kai.

Anyway, here are some more recommendations:

Opium pour Homme
B*Men
Lagerfeld Photo (the new formulation, which is much woodier and less bright on top)

I've seen these fairly frequently at discounters like TJ Maxx/Marhalls

My strongest recommendation would be Tom Ford Amber Absolute. For a college student, a bottle is almost certainly too expensive. But AA has extremely good longevity, so a little goes a long way. A small decant--say 4 or 8 ml--would be perfect, IMO.

I like both YSL Opium and Burberry London but they're both very heavy scents to wear, so try before you buy.

Actually, there are a ton of great options out there, depending on what you like and want to smell like. In the wintertime, you can pretty well wear anything and not go wrong - provided it works for you. Get out and sample before you drop any lucre.
