Dear all,

I am going to be moving from England to New York for a while and am wondering what your suggestions for coats for-would be. I have a zegna wool overcoat for formal wear here and will eventually upgrade to a cashmere version but doubt that will cut it at the coldest points. Basically im struggling to find a good mix between (formal) form and function!

Cheers.

I wouldn’t sweat it too much. If you have a good weight overcoat (say 450 gr. Or more) with a good scarve and gloves you should be fine here.

Also layering is key to getting through cold. Wear some knitwear with your suit, if formality is a concern. Great socks, a scarf and warm gloves are also important.

Then of course, there are situations when only a technical winter coat will do, but those are extreme days even in Stockholm winter.

Yeah, you'll be fine. Enjoy the move! A lot of cool things in NYC.

If you must, a duffle coat works for warmth and less formal than your overcoat.

If you want to be warm enough I would recommend parkas from Canada Goose, Woolrich, Arcteryx.

And Barbour for about 0 degrees temperature )

Camelhair coat, John Gotti style. The awesomeness will melt the snow wherever you walk.
