A while ago, someone posed are wingtips still in. Well I certainly hope so.

I don't see why they wouldn't be--but then, I love them. And even if they aren't strictly "in," suede wingtips are so flexible that they *should* be (which reminds me yet again that I need to replace my sole, long-lost pair).

fyi i was at a shoe store wearing my alden wing tips yestereday. The salesman was almost aghast...he basically said. I may have "that style" in the basement...

i took it as a sign of distinction...

I know a lot of people like them, but I never really have. I do have a pair of Mezlans which have a hint of the wingtip style in them, but that's it.

I love them. I would think they might be considered "out" in some circles, i.e. trendy dressers, but who cares about what those folks think anyway.

Wingtips...now that's style. Fashion trends come and go, but style stays with us forever.

They are the best choice for dress shoes...my opinion.

Strongest reaction I ever got to my shoes was a pair of wing tips that two women both went gaga for. That said, I love them and whether they're in "fashion" or not, I continue to wear them.

There have been a number of articles in fashion mags in the past couple of years declaring the 'return' of the wingtip. Hilarious. On the upside, wingtips look great on chisel toe lasts so it is good to see all the new versions out there.

But please- don't remove them roughly, and use a shoehorn if you have to put them back on me when you lay me out in state. And after I'm gone- well, I hope my life insurance covers regular polishing- the rest of my family is capable of looking after itself.

Wingtips are *great*.

I don't know why the ones AE is carrying right now are so awful though. You basically have three options and they all suck. 1 has a piece of leather at the heel that stretches straight all the way to the front (very ugly), the second has the leather at the heel colliding with the leather from the wing tip in the front itself. The third just suggests a wingtip through perforations on a smooth vamp. ick.

What happened to the regular wing tips, where the leather at the heel curves gracefully and terminates at the sole?
