Wingtips with cords?

Hi guys,

Would you (should I) wear brown or burgundy wingtips with cords? I'm thinking of getting some really nice tailored cords to wear to the office this fall but can't figure what shoes I should wear with them.

Oh yes, very much so. In fact, the only way this kind of matching could be closer to perfection were if the brown wingtips were a pebble grain leather.

I am not sure there is a more perfect shoe for wear with corduroy. You've inspired me to do just this tomorrow morning..

Make sure the cords are slim and not big and baggy and you'll be fine.

This is one of the most obvious pairing questions I've ever seen on here. Of course!

I do this all the time. Great look. Classic and timeless. I frequently wear my brown shell cordovan wingtips (the Polo Darlton made by C&J) with tan or brown or other earth tone cords, but you could easily do burgundy (such as the AE macneil or Alden version), as well as burgundy wingtips with navy cords.

Depends on both the wingtips and the cords. Full-cut, wide-wale cords are going to look unbalanced paired with delicate, pointy-toed bals. But they'll look great with a chunky blucher version like the Darlton.

Narrow-wale cords that taper to a small leg opening might work paired with more delicate bals, but I'm still skeptical of the concept.

Cords and longwings make for a very nice look. I'll be sporting it this weekend with a flannel blazer and an OCBD shirt.
