Wingtips Go With...

I don't have a pair of wingtips, either in brown or black, but have been looking for a pair (although not very diligently). The reason is because my work environment leans towards business casual, and I lean more towards the casual end of business casual, with dark jeans being a strong preference of mine, over wool slacks.

I'm presuming that black wingtips are a little too dressy for chinos or jeans. Is this a mistaken assumption? I'm thinking it could be a little jarring to have dressy shoes like wingtips with more casual pieces like chinos. Correct or incorrect assumption?

I wear my black Paul Smith wingtip boots like every other day, and almost always with a pair of jeans. They are the item I get complimented most on.

I wear my black Tricker's Stow boots with jeans all the time. Shape makes a difference too. I imagine if I owned a pair of black wing tip shoes with a similar shape I'd be able to wear those more casually too.

If you're the type of person who doesn't want to get more than one of something, my rule of thumb was always black oxfords, brown loafers, and burgundy wingtips, and you've got your bases covered.

For wingtips I have tan Alden bluchers, espresso Trickers Stows (both SF sanctioned) and black Johnston & Murphys (officially SF disapproved). I'll pretty much wear any of them with anything, except maybe the Trickers with a suit. At the limits it may be a question of what you can pull off (e.g. black WTs with khaki chinos) but wingtips are just generally great all-around shoes.

Wingtips are pretty standard fare as far as footwear goes.

I would suggest going to a few thrift stores and copping some vintage florsheim imperials in both black and brown(hell my buddy found a pretty much MINT pair for 15$)...spray the insides with lysol and polish them up and your good to go, this way you not only don't have to pick but you have 2 pairs of shoes with a little character thrown in for no additional fee.

you could flip the brown and the burgundy, and get, for example, the black AE Park Avenue, the burgundy Alden tassel or welted penny loafer, and the brown pebble grained USA made Kenmoor, and you'll have all of your American classics covered.

I wore my black J&M wingtips with jeans all the time after I retired them from dress wear. I only stopped because my girlfriend at the time listed my wearing what she considered dress shoes with denim as her #1 pet peeve.

Considering I once got drunk and ...well I was drunk a substaintial part of the time we dated and did a ton of fairly horrible things to, with and on her, so if the shoes were her biggest complaint, I'll oblige.

Still wear suede and pebble leather wingtips with denim all the time though. I did my suede wingtips sockless with linen shorts last year even.

I've gotten complimented on a pair of RL Polo pajama bottoms and thrift store flannel shirt that I wore to the supermarket when I had a cold, took off from work and went to the CVS to get cold medicine.

Compliments should never be an accurate judge of something looking good. Empty comments from ugly girls trying to get on your **** have no place here. This forum is littered with "I wore a satin tie, AA tee, H&M sports coat and clown pants to my algebra class and have gotten nothing but compliments." When's it gonna end?
