Turndown. I recently scored a Thomas Pink Marcella for $50 off eBay. Perfect tux shirt.

Tunnel? You can not be serious!
Stinks of Al's Formal Wear prom rental tux.

Wing collars suit white tie because the white tie itself blends with the shirt. A black tie has the conspicuous contrast running round the back of the neck which is unsightly. The tunnel is a horrible, unnatural attempt to force a square peg into a round hole and should be avoided at all costs IMO.

^^ I'm with you on this one, grouchy old man.

A wing collar should be high, stiff, detachable, and worn on a full dress evening shirt with single cuffs. The odds that a person asking a collar question has or knows how to get such a shirt and collar are low; acquisition of a full evening dress vest lower still; possession of an elegant SB peaked dinner suit that can stand up to this added formality lower again; and being in a venue in which the most archaic of all dinner suit looks fits in appropriately nearly impossible.

A hidden back for a tie on an open collar is a non-issue if the jacket, shirt, and collar fit impeccably.
