I did a search but didn't find a thread on this particular topic. I'm thinking about joining a wine club and I'm looking for some recommendations. I'd like to keep the monthly cost at or below $50. So if anyone has any experiences they'd like to share, please do so!

I'm somewhat new to wine, so I'd like exposure to different varietals. In terms of regions, it would be nice to sample wines from different parts of the world, but I wouldn't be opposed to learning about a particular region. For example, I don't have much exposure to U.S. wines, so it would be nice to learn about wines from Cali and Oregon.

Join Gary Vaynerchuk's club, this way you get the wine and since you're relatively new to the topic you can drink along with his videoblog so you can learn about the region, the varietal, and taste along with him.

You can do the $25, $50, or $100 club.

That is a great recommendation.

Ah Dammit. The Gary V club won't ship to MA! This seemed like it was exactly what I was looking for too.

MA laws, some states are really tough to have liquor shipped to.

Don't worry about it too much, watch Gary's daily video blog and go out and buy some of the wines that he reviews and taste along with him. There's a massive video archive so you can pick and choose by region, grape, etc.

I do this with my friends quite often, I'll find a wine he reviews, buy it, and then invite people over and we'll drink, watch, learn.

Are you interested in specific winery clubs at all? If so I would look into Mckeon Phillips and Consilience. In the last 6 months I've received a '98 Pinot and a '00 Cabernet from the Mckeon cellar. Both are fairly reasonable and have a good variety of wines they send out.
