Windowpane suit, flat front pants... cuffs or no cuffs?

I'm looking at a charcoal suit with a white windowpane pattern, classic appearance. The trousers are flat front. I know "Da Rules" say that means no cuff. But I was under the impression that windowpanes and pinstripes call for cuffs. Am I wrong? If not, what should I do, cuffs or no cuffs? Or is it simply preference?

I have had many suits over years, and regardless of type, I've always had no cuffs with flat front pants.

I would go for a cuff, 2 - 2.5" for a nice balance with the busy fabric, see what size cuffs fits in with the balance of the suit.

These days you can do what you like, not sure there is any rule. I have no cuffs on most of my suits, but really like them with glen check. I also find a cuff looks better with wingtip shoes.

I think 3/11 suits I have have cuffs and 1/8 odd trousers - so i am not stuck on cuffs, but do like to change it up a bit once and a while.

I've never heard this rule. You can cuff them if you want though, entirely up to you.

Pin up cuffs to see if you prefer them. Compare to no cuffs and decide what works best for you.

You could compromise by getting one inch cuffs and enjoy being pilloried by both camps.

Whatever YOU prefer. There is no rule about this or indeed most other things sartorial.

I feel that we could help you more if we knew whether or not you carried a Derringer.

Report back and then we can make a definitive finding.

Also, not to be a pedant, but all pants bottoms are cuffed. Some are cuffed on the outside.

Others? Inside.
