I'm just back from a holiday in New York (birthday treat for myself). I did a great deal of walking from my hotel on East 50th, went uptown and downtown several times. A great deal of browsing the shoppings whilst en route to 'tourist' destinations and saw many items that I'd only encountered via the internet eg Lattanzi, Berluti etc on Madison, Quinn in NoLita etc. Even ventured to Century 21. Amazingly I didn't buy anything - I guess there being no sales on was one reason, but I was also quite disciplined knowing that I didn't actually 'need' anything and also I was just enjoying the company of my lady friend [IMG]

Nice city, I'd go back though not the same hotel but that's another story.

In an attempt to reduce the amount of luggage, I took only one pair of shoes - the Dovers that I wore every day. They were extremely comfortable and held up very well with just a light cleaning with tissue paper each day and being put into plastic shoe trees overnight.

I was mildly amused when I walked into a men's shop on either Madison or Fifth (I spotted a small number of EGs on a shelf) and the assistant then asked me if I knew about EGs [IMG] He must have been 'new' as he hadn't even heard of the '888' last. Apparently there's a 14 week wait for the 888 Newbury, they've sold a few to Japan, so they say.
