Not really. I'm not opening up a cell phone, and I dont trust myself to poke around inside my laptop. There was a day when I would fix my PC issues, but now I rely on it too much.

Depends on the product...but I'm an engineer so it's more than likely going to be poked and prodded for a little

I'll fix computer stuff myself. But probably not other electronics. I will open them up and take a peek though, just in case.

i love to fix things, it may not work any better afterwards, but it's still fun to try. i've fixed a few laptops, pcs, and cars; i'm not sure if the latter applies here.

I have replaced laptop hinges and cell phone antennas when broken but not much beyond that. The web usually has pretty good instructions on these user-doable tasks, but I have found it takes a new investment in tools. I am sure it has saved me money and time in the end; fortunately I have not bungled anything yet.

It all depends on the difficulty of the task. I am only proficient at soldering and I lack many of the tools and extra parts left to do anything too difficult.

i'm a whiz with computers and i build my own so if somethings up...of course i'll crack the case and take a peek inside, maybe take it all apart and see whats defective. as far as other eletronics...my girlfriend opened up my giant remote the other day and fixed it. thats about it. i don't screw with cell phones, pdas, gameboys etc.

yeah I do too. I was always a tinkerer. Used to be an AV tech at best buy, then a car audio installer, so if you need your VCR cleaned, I am your guy. However, for the 3rd time in 12 years of driving, I paid for an oil change, instead of doing it myself, so I am either getting lazy or just realizing sometimes it not worth it.

Yes. At home I'm pretty much the IT Tech of the household with no less than 6 computers used regularly (3 desktops, 2 laptops, 1 network file server). I've cracked open laptops to fix loose power jacks, LCD screens etc. Also the resident Home Theater/AV tech. On the car, I do my own oil changes, replaced engine mounts, power steering pump. Still learning though; haven't actually done taken apart the actual engine. I'd say I'm fairly hands-on and I like to take things apart. Edit: Wait,

Anything that I can fix, I do. I generally do all of my own computer fixes. I also fix any of the furniture that gets broken in my house. I've fixed my fridge once, and, when I was living at home, I repainted my parent's house more than once.

I do my own oil changes, belt changes, and spark plugs, fluids, etc.

The only things that I won't do are things that are covered by warranty, and won't take long. Although my oil changes are covered, sometimes they take too long, or it's too inconvenient to go all the way out to the dealership, so I just do it on my own.

I guess that I pride myself in knowing how to fix and maintain things. It always drives me nuts when I hear loose belts squealing on a car, or worn brakes, or when someone has a backed up sink and is waiting a week for a plumber to come and pull the pipes out, when it's easy to do on your own.

I trust the advice of the brothers gibb:
How can you mend a broken part?

I will do simple stuff, like look for things that fell apart or simple cleaning, but I can usually tell from the error if its something I can fix.
