Article today in San Francisco Chronicle about letter sent to customers begging them to shop. Also offered a discount "In his letter, the storied clothier's version of an economic stimulus package offered a $300 discount on purchases of at least $800 - an amount, he said, that's not difficult to ring up at his store.

Not sure if this only for past customers who received the letter or a general offer.

Never been particulary impressed by Wilkes and am not suprised given the state of the economy. Went to a restaurant in SF last night and was told business is down 30% since June. People are hurting and are not going to spend on frivolous things like a $2000 on a robe from Wilkes.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
