wide - low volume foot causing creases?

I recently got into buying some more expensive dress shoes and looking for a better fit due to foot pain. I have a wide 9.5 flat foot. The problem seems to be that the wider shoes have more vertical volume after the cap. These seems to cause, what I think, deep creases. One pair is starting to crease right at the cap stitch.

Is this due to too much volume in the shoe? What can I do to help solve this issue, shoe inserts?
