Why Would an Untipped Grenadine Be Preferable to a Tipped Version?

Wondering if anyone can give me some indication of where an untipped tie sits on the formality scale, specifically a Grenadine. I'm considering purchasing this untipped Garza Grossa from Berg & Berg:

Or this tipped Garza Grossa from Kent Wang:

I may also go with Hober, which I believe is tipped.

Here's another example of an untipped version, this time from Drake's:

I've read in a few blogs that an untipped Grenadine is considered by some to be a slightly more elegant choice of tie. Can anyone tell me a bit about the foundation for this opinion? Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
