Nah, even something like Dior Homme is usually more durable than Levis, to say nothing of japanese denim. I do agree durability is way overrated here but then having, for example, ****** shoes that fall appart quickly is annoying. Margiela footwear is not really durable and I own three pairs because I like the brand and design, I still wish they were made a little better. Since my stuff gets fucked up quickly I tend to like items that age well; it is not only about durability but looks over the lifetime of the item.

There is a traditional Western aesthetic of quality, timelessness and understatement. That aesthetic is utterly divorced from the fashion-pandering described (indeed advocated) by the OP. It will be difficult not to talk past him, and vice versa.

There is? I mean it's obviously not applied here with all the horseblanket suits, flashy shoes and whatnot. Traditional men's dressing is super gaudy.

Now I really doubt that this is true...

Maybe they have other benefits, but I'd say they are just as durable.
