1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

So, if you did brass buttons, what would you have on them?

    Safest is the non-figurative H&S.

I do have brass buttons, and they have what looks like a matte machine-turned finish. Traditional, but not so "Ahoy, captain!"

I'm just sad I have no interesting or notable institutional affiliations other than where I hung out and 'did stuff' for four years.

God in Heaven, please do not make this the genesis of the StyleForum blazer button.

Take that kind of traffic over to AAAC...

Can it have a coat hanger on it? Or have we lost the copyright?

How about bas-relief safari guy with pith helmet, pipe, and shorts smoking in his back yard?

Or a young woman's behind in low cut jeans, and engraved tatoo emerging out of the belt line?

You're a lawyer right? How about the scales of justice buttons from Ben Silver...

    http://www.bensilver.com/fs_storefro...root=4&show=67

They also have a lot of other options and monogrammed buttons.

When you get gold/brass buttons on your blazer, do you use plain ones or ones with an emblem? If the latter, what emblem do you use? Would it be cheesy to use the crest from your university?

You could do what I did -- my tailor happened to have a spare prep-school set: http://www.rutgersprep.org/

I did not attend. In fact, if not for the buttons, I wouldn't have known of that school's existence (I found out by looking up the motto on the interwebz). The buttons look nice and minimize the "flashy-gold" look many wish to avoid.

In fact, I am wearing it today at the office.

I think you are giving up on your university blazer buttons too easily.

This shop has a set that look like this,
    [IMG]
which seem to be perfectly fine to me.

Some weeks I practically live in my navy MTM blazer. I'd like to think it is not a bad thing.

Coincidentally, I have those links (different university) and wish I could find something much higher quality. They are kinda junky.

Well that is another matter. The classic blazer buttons are made by Waterbury. For Mafoo's benefit, here is the Brown model. [IMG] I think they are fine for civilian use. It is only when you start getting them with colored enamel that they start to get to Rah! Rah! for me.

I like navy jackets, but without the shiny buttons.

If i got gold buttons, I would probably get a pair that were similar to these cufflinks as a message to the overly curious. [IMG]
