Ticket pockets on blazers make Baby Jesus cry.

Dege put one on my DB blazer, at their own suggestion. But the British have a long history of Heathenism, with Christianity being a relatively recent import in the scheme of things.

When you get gold/brass buttons on your blazer, do you use plain ones or ones with an emblem? If the latter, what emblem do you use? Would it be cheesy to use the crest from your university?
Mine have enamel and gold buttons using the tailor's own running fox logo. I like the design a lot. I don't think university buttons are particularly cheesy, though I don't have them. I considered getting ones with undergrad on the front and alternating graduate schools on the sleeves. I never did because it was it was a lot of work and I like the ones I have. I think using the enamel design school buttons might be a bit much and would go with the plain metal crest designs.

I think it might be known as ripple finish (not the cheap spirit). It is a worsted cashmere that has a bit of a nap and a wet look to it so that it has a slight shimmer like a seal's skin or a ripple effect because the nap can look "wet".
Perhaps I'm a rube and this doesn't really exist, but can you post a picture of this? And I'm assuming it's not a year- round weight? I've been looking for the perfect blazer and haven't found anything. I thought about the RLBL but that fell through. And if someone can create brass buttons that go over (on top of) horn/pearl buttons that would be awesome.

Isn't that what babies do? Anyway, I agree, except for flap on patch for overcoats.

And I am thrilled that Brooks Brothers, as a bastion of classic style, would not commit such an obvious sartorial felony.. Oh wait..

    Pwned!

Because if Brooks Brothers makes it, it must be in good taste.

It does exist. I could post a picture but not at the moment and it is probably best for the cooler months.

I don't see anything wrong with flapped patch pockets on a jacket. As it happens, I don't have any, and I don't think I would get them, but it is a classic American look that goes back a long time.

On the other hand, if your comment was meant in the spirt of my comment -- since I don't like it, it should not be done -- then carry on.

Actually, I don't think for myself. It was more in the spirit of, "Since Manton doesn't like it, it shouldn't be done."
