Why don't mid level clothing companies outsource to Italy?

"Made in Italy" is like a tramp stamp for quality to the masses, why wouldn't companies like Lands End or Banana Republic outsource to Italy? It can't cost more to produce crap there than it is in the US/Canada?

Even with suits, lower level line suits that sell for 200-400$. The quality would stay the same but people would think it is much better made.
