Why does GQ want me to buy an elf suit?

Seems like for the last year or so GQ has wanted me to purchase and wear a short cropped suit with skinny lapels and highwater pants. This look is marsupialed. How long will they insist that this is men's fashion? Does anyone believe them when they say the elf look is cool? Please help.

Make sure you roll up your trousers and wear dress shoes with no socks too.

I'm getting royally sick of the layouts in GQ. I like The Style guy but he gets less and less column inches meanwhile most of what he advises is in complete contrast to what they advertise in there.

This.

$$ from advertisers = why you are force fed certain looks. They are not going to tell their readers to stay away from the gravy trains latest fashions, and to stick to a more classic look.

GQ is about profit, like every other business out there.

I agree that the advice that the style guy gives is generally pretty good.

They try to reflect their advertisers wish to create new fashions and thus sales.

Just ignore them and fine something sensible.

Lol, a hundred and fourty-nine bucks an issue? WTF? EDIT - my bad, that's just for the coffee table book they are selling. It's only sixty-five a year.

GQ is for a certain demographic, obviously you are not it. Move on to something a little more sophisticated like Esquire or Forbes Life?
