Why Do They Make So Many Large, XL, XXL Clothing

Everytime I go to a discount store or even a regular store during a sale there is almost always Large, XL, Xlll clothing left. Why do they make so many of these sizes if they have to be put on deep discount to be sold. Does it involve the manufacturing process? Any idea would help.

Maybe because larger people will complain and accuse the manufacturer of discrimination. I don't know.

it's because people buy the small and medium sizes, is it that hard to understand?

I know that, but why does the company making the clothes, not make more smalls and mediums than the large sizes?

Quite simply, people are getting larger, and the collective definition of proper fit is getting looser. I certainly hope this is a trend that will taper off (pardon the pun).

I'm 6'1 and 190 pounds; in my mind, a medium shirt should never be too big, yet often they are too full in the body and too long. A guy my size shouldn't be considering a small, even for an instant.

Yeah seriously I'm a pretty big buy and the other day I was trying on casual button down shirts and all the mediums were huge I was like WTF?

I'm also 6'1, show me where you're getting clothes that are too long for you. Too full I can understand, but I'm always having trouble finding items that will cover my back when I sit down and have sleeves that come down to below my wrists. Longer would be awesome.

Im 6'1, 215 currently. Even when i was smaller/younger I would always take an XL. Now that Ive grown past looking like a slob, Large seems to be proper for my size in most cases. I wouldnt even humor myself by trying on a medium...

My theory with the sizing is this: The bigger and fatter you are the less you care about your appearance and style. The less you care, the less fashion you buy. You would rather stick with your XXL Hawaiian Shirts and Moo-moos. They dont want to spend more money on clothes that will just make them look fatter.

Most fat people I know are couch potatoes, love video games and fast food - that is also your average american. Most smaller and well proportioned people are more active, energetic and balanced. Of course there are exceptions and Im generalizing quite a bit but just look at all the people on here that are begging for size 28 and XS. Hell, i can hardly ever find jeans to accomodate 26" thighs.

+1

Sleeve length is the biggest issue I have, by far. I can bring in a shirt that is a little drapey, Ill spend $10 to get it tailored. Torso length isnt too much of an issue for me though.

I think his question was why is the stuff still left over, though? If there are that many huge people, all of the XXL's would be gone, instead of sitting around on a sale rack or at an outlet.

It would seem logical to manufacture more smalls and mediums that can be sold at retail, rather than super sizes that waste away at discount.
