1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Why do people distort their faces when they post a picture in the WAYWT thread?

I understand the desire for anonimity, but more to the point, why do people increasingly blot out the bottom half of their face? Usually it is the eyes that are obscured to protect identity.

I don't want to see your ugly faces. I want to see how the lapel on your jacket sits on your chest and how your tie knots etc.

In fact, I blur any pictures I encounter on here which are not blurred.

Without my glasses I thought it was an old guy sliding on one of those home stair elevators.

Anyone who knows me could immediately identify me by my WAYWRN photos. I'm not worried about them, but rather those who don't know me and wish to use the photos for nefarious purposes.

This is bullshit. I love how people worry about facebook all the time and stuff becoming public on there. First off, it is somewhat public anyway. Secondly, just don't post something on there that you would mind anyone finding out. There was a scare recently about putting your mobile number on there and how it's available to all your friends. So stupid... I've known about this for at least 3 years and have put my number on there exactly for this purpose.

I often make dumb faces when photographed so I usually crop it out. I suspect this is also the case for other posters that only sometimes posts their faces.

my guess is that they are shamed of they way they look and do not want us to pass judgement on them because of this. Either that or they are so paranoid of what goes on with identity theft and such online that they will not let others see them. I of course have nothing to hide because I am secure in myself that I do not care who sees me. God did not grace me with these good looks to just hide them from the world.

I always assumed the people that did that were old fuddy duddies who are also still afraid of using the internet to do their banking.

Oh yes, plus the pic, and the stats. I did find it odd that he went from 40 something year old financial planner to a late teen going to college.
