Why do most SF'ers not like self-stripe/shadow stripe suits?

Any particular reason why?

Cheers

They attract the eye but in a distracting, unwelcome way. Selfstripe is like interference on a TV screen. Either be solid, or be striped - don't be in between.

Is herringbone a self-stripe/shadow-stripe? If so, I'm a big fan.

Not that I speak for the majority (or anyone) here, but I like them. I remember Manton posted a photo of him in one, and I thought it looked great. I was not alone.

It flat out looks awful. Multi colored stripes or shadow stripes never ever looked good. If it isn't a solid single colored evenly spaced stripe, stay away.

No - it's yarn of two different colors woven together.

Herringbone is more a pattern that just happens to be a shadow-stripe.
