Cake: does anyone make superb cake? If so, do you expect a cupcake shop run by two 30-yr-old lesbian home-trained cooks to be able to do the same? no. It's fucking obvious why every middle-aged privileged white woman without any other marketable skill is trying to move in on this business. Need to afford teh Beamerz with no husband yet
Pebble, I happen to agree with you that a good bagel is more impressive than a cupcake, but I find the homophobia and misogyny of your post totally repellent. Must every thread descend to the gutter?

of course there are. there are chocolate cakes that are made with chocolate, chocolate cakes that are made from chocolate and cocoa and chocolate cakes that are made from cocoa. the thing that makes a red velvet cake particular is the combination of cocoa and buttermilk. OK?

The thing that creeps me out is the fetishism over cupcakes, a la Georgetown Cupcakes. People go crazy and queue for an hour just to pay like $3 per cupcake. Also, the women that own that shop are incredibly unlikeable on their TV show (I had to see what the fuss was about).

I once plowed through box of magnolia cupcakes that was in the kitchen.

it belonged to my wife's friend...and they were saving them for a treat after a walk in the park.

it wasn't that good. i'd say donuts from The Doughut Plant are better.

I ended up having to replace the cupcakes with donuts from the doughut plant.

LOL @ treating oneself after exercise with cupcakes. Good for you for showing them the folly of their ways.

No worries. Maybe foodguy can take a picture of himself holding up some chiseled stones so that we can know what they were called back in his day.

Magnolia sucks. Seriously. I had a red velvet abortion from there the other day and it was dry, flavorless and terrible. The frosting tasted like what I'd imagine moldy gym socks to taste like if they could be liquified then coagulated into a paste.

This is the first time I've actually really disliked being paid to eat food.
