Why are ties too narrow right in the section where you want to tie a knot? Do any ties stay wider th

It seems that every tie I have 3.5 at widest point gets very narrow quickly, so the part I want to tie my knot around ends up looking like such a small, pathetic knot. Are there any tie manufacturers that keep a wider blade so the knot is more substantial?

I guess you, like me, are pretty tall. You could try getting a longer tie. Maybe bespoke?

There are different styles of cutting a tie. You want a bottleneck style tie. The shape is wider than the classic tie that is cut straight down on the sides. More U shaped than A shaped

My ties are usually round 1" where the knot is tied and they look ok. Maybe try a Windsor knot or something?

I got the same very annoying problem. Maybe the Drakes extra long ties could be the answer?
Another option is of course Sam Hober as mentioned above. Haven't tried any myself though.

I wonder the same thing but have come to the conclusion (after seeing beautifully tied knots in WAYWRN, some the same maker and width of ties that I own) that my FIH technique sucks. Where to start the knot, how close to the neck am I when I first cross over, how much longer the wide side is compared to the short when I start it....all kinds of variables. Not that I'm trying to achieve a perfect knot, either. I like a "natural" looking knot.

A FIH is a simple knot but I think i need to practice and pay more attention. Usually I'm rushing out the door and if it looks about the right length, I go w/ it. Lately I've been going w/ a bow! So much easier.

I am only 5'9 so I don't think a buying a tie in long will work. If anything the long tie will have a longer narrow end.

Is the reason the knot is so small that my neck is only 15''? when i am done tying the tie the narrow end is the same length as the wider end which both hit just at my belt. This of course leads to a tiny knot because it was tied only with the narrow part of the tie.

Post pics of you with your knots. 5'9 sound like you want a MT_Spiffy special.

I'm 5'8 and 14.5" neck and even the narrower 3" ties work for me. Or you are wearing your tie way too long.
