Why Are The Dandyism Movement And The Preppy Movement So Hated?

Dandyism is very hard to pin down as a look and it really is anti movement in its truest form.
People seem to love prep style and this is one of those styles like modernism and military that never really goes away in menswear.
I'm not a fan of the preppy look when it's pink sweaters over the shoulder or has an "aww gee schucks" feel to it.
