I randomly hopped on Ebay to see what would a pair cost on there just to find alot of decent conditioned Park Avenues for under 50 bucks. What's going on? Are these fakes?

That's probably what second hand shoes are worth. Lucky to get that much for them.

There are multiple options for discounted Allen Edmonds shoes. Amazon runs shoe sales fairly regularly. SF member allaboutshoes offers very attractive pricing on first quality shoes. And the Shoe Bank has reasonable prices on irregulars. As such, there needs to be a significant discount on a used shoe to attract buyers. Not to mention, eBay prices reflect the current market for the product. If people aren't looking for AE at that time or in that size, then the prices will be low.

Most of the AE's on ebay are used 2nds.

They must be fakes. Real Allen Edmonds footwear only appreciates in value, as we know. A real pair of gently used AE seconds should be selling for at least $500 on eBay.

Ok, maybe not fakes as AE is not a major brand known to get duplicated like Ralph Lauren, but 80% off the price when some of them barely even had a toe crease....hell of a drop.

Think about the market for used footwear.

Most people wouldn't even dream of purchasing a used pair of shoes, regardless of quality.

Unless there's a scarcity of supply, even new items go for under retail on Ebay. Otherwise, why buy from them instead of the retailer? Throw in used, relatively unknown brand and you get yourself a big discount.
