Well, sure. If you're at the extreme of the spectrum in terms of a physical attribute, choosing clothing at the opposite extreme probably isn't the best idea. But for more average guy, I grow suspicious once notch lapels start inching past the midpoint of the chest. Slightly narrow > slightly too wide. Minimalism over excess. But either extreme is no good.

In the post you link, the problem with the skinny lapel isn't just that it's too skinny but also that it's too stubby.

I agree, it's a particularly unattractive case of what I presume is a hard-three button. I will be glad when this look is completely eradicated. For a while it seemed that a many-buttoned suit jacket was a requirement for coming on stage in the NBA draft.

    Fortunately, no.

    1) Tied it too tight.

    2) Didn't know the back blade had come out in front.

    3) Took pics and forgot to check them.

And I can't take the shot again because that was yesterday's ensemble.

This is today's (suit is navy twill wool, shirt is a sky blue pique, tie is silver and navy houndstooth silk):

I think it looks great, notwithstanding the separated blades on the necktie. Tell me, what kind of fabric is the navy sportcoat?

    Don't worry, mate.

    It is pretty funny. :)

Fabric is a Dugdale Bros Worsted; not sure of the weight though. I had the jacket half-lined as it never really gets that cold here in Oz.

Not a fan of the shadow stripe. May keep the pronounced stripe if the stripes are more gray than blue - else I'd really pass up on both.

Thats about the same color as my bengal stripe shirt. I have some in that color, and some in a lighter blue.

Great thread...while I don't have any new photos, here are some older ones that show what I still may be wearing at any point in time weather dependent. Simple and classic - almost to the point of boring, but at least they all fit well! I think they are all examples of good taste, but feel free to correct me if not! Apologies the photos came out so large.
