1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I just went scorched earth on the last few pages. Apologies to all whose posts were lost. Anyone who missed out can enjoy the "it's all subjective" argument in its several previous iterations earlier in the thread. Let's not let the discussion get bogged down further.

I know, it was a bit of a rhetorical question.

Do not like the tie. Something solid would be better.

Gerry, I would also prefer a different tie I think this is too pastely for the winter we're on the way to and that it doesn't gel with the PS.

A solid tie would have produced something akin to the "Italian businessman" look. Not to be recommended, except in very particular contexts. The combination as presented is both accomplished and pleasing, and I would only wish for some more contrast between tie and square in terms of texture and/or colour. As to structure, the coat fits beautifully, so far as may be seen, and the collar is exemplary.

Just my opinion. I have no #menswearrules to back it up, I simply don't like that tie much, but I like the rest of your fit.

Interesting comments, all. Thanks for the feedback.

Tehbunny, I know the tie is probably more suitable for spring because of its colour rather than the autumn we're facing here in the Antipodes but the weather today was cold and rainy and the tie reminded me of the balmier weather we had till now.

Stiva, thanks for the kind words. For the square, were you thinking of something linen or wool, for example?

The reason I went for silk in the PS was that there are a number of different colours at play here so I wanted to keep some consistency in the texture of the elements. If the tie was solid, I would have gone for a more textured hanky.

No, no, I understand that. I wanted to get more information about what you didn't like - was it just the pattern or also the colour that didn't do it for you in relation to the rest?
When you say a solid tie would have been preferable, do you mean in the same light blue colour or something darker?

Just trying to get some clarity on where you're coming from and I realise I might have come across as too abruptly.

No problem Gerry. :) It's just that I dislike paisleys if they are not very large. I also think that your grey suit(?) and white shirt are very conservative, and that the tie is too playful or casual in that context. It's not harmonious to my eye. But, as always, taste is also subjective. I would have liked a classic navy or wine red tie instead.

Brown is better when paired with blue. You seem to insist on white shirts which are better with high contrast looks.

Have you considered wearing a black knit or grenadine with that particular shirt and suit? A wedding type tie might work too.

This might be beating a dead horse, but can we see some tasteful spring/summer ties?
