Even white oxford button down? I've decided that I kind of like that with an odd jacket.

Problem with mafoofan is that he is essentially autistic online. He's unable to act the way he does here in real life (obvious reasons) - that much he admits to.

I have a question about the black knit tie. Is this ok o wear with a business suit? I feel like if I wore a black knit with a navy or grey suit I would get a lot of comments. Thoughts, experiences?

It's a classic. Doesn't mean you won't get comments, but it's certainly accepted practice outside the most CBD circumstances.

I have a black silk knit that I wear often with a gray double breasted suit and white shirt, I think it looks great. Never thought about wearing it with a navy suit.

I never thought about wearing it with navy either, but I have been hearing a black tie with a navy suit is acceptable. Maybe regular silk, and not knitted.

Also does the knit have a seasonal connotation? In my mind a black knit should be a winter only item.

    I wear them year 'round.

Navy suit + white shirt + black knit = sharp.

Nothing wrong with a black grenadine or knit tie at the office. I wear it more with a grey than a navy suit but it can certainly look fine.

I might need one now. A little bird told me that Paul Stuart is the way to go.

I am hardly the arbiter of good taste, but I do work in a very, very CBD environment and a knit tie would be mocked relentlessly.

It can look good, but you need to make sure there is enough contrast coming from the shirt. Classic is with a white shirt, but doesn't need to be.

I think the only way a white shirt is acceptable with an odd jacket is if it is an OCBD.
