1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I agree and that's why I haven't used a full Windsor knot in years - those are both double four-in-hands. Being mistaken for a Windsor wearer hurts, dude [IMG]

Hmm, interesting. The reason for the cardigans is warmth more than anything - an overcoat would be too much and the suit by itself would be too little. Perhaps a scarf then - I'll give it some thought.

Regarding the first outfit, I'm not sure if I'd use a black tie but certainly grey or brown would work well.

I take your point about the white shirt - these days I'm gravitating more and more towards blue shirts. The white ones almost seem a little 'harsh' if that's the right word. The hanky is the Rubinacci Victory so it's creamy but has a number of other colours - it's just the way I was wearing it.

    Thanks for the feedback!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with wearing a sweater vest under a suit.

Sweater vests/cardigans under suits/jackets are in good taste if executed properly - examples abound:

I love the tie, but I think it would be a bit better with navy. I normally really like your stuff.

    Thank you.

I've tried it with navy, and it never looks good to me. In fact, this mid-to-light gray is the only thing in my closet I really love with it. I may try it with the navy and post to see if that makes things better for others, though.

True but suits were only part of it.

The original statement was "Sweater vests/cardigans under suits/jackets are in good taste if executed properly - examples abound:" followed by examples. To which "in stiches" asked "any examples of dudes under 70 years old?" which is what you see above [IMG]

This may or may not have any relevance but the first outfit I posted was a cardigan under a blue blazer, the second was a cardigan under a suit. I don't feel the need to stop doing so but it's interesting to see the comments nonetheless.

Here's one with a suit for you [IMG]:

It would seem that cardigans are more casual and better worn with odd jackets or more casual suits rather than more tailored suits.

Yes. That's why I wrote "with these kinds of business-y worsteds."

I'm pretty anti-sweater in general. More so with a business suit.

It's a suit, not a SC. Shirt stripe is light blue in case the pic is off.

I don't like shirts with grey in them unless they are casual chambray, or end-on-end shirts. Also, I don't like the width of the stripes. I much prefer bengal stripes where the color and white are the same width. That to me looks like a casual shirt and it is paired with a white TV fold, which is off.
