I thought brown was a dull color? The suit isn't a flat 80s brown either, it has black, corn and coffee tones running through it.

I'm talking about the tie. The suit I'm sure I would love if the pic were better.

Yes, last winter. (The grey flannel glen plaid as well...) The shoes are polo brown (red/orange brown). I'm not sure what ginger is, but I've worn the suit with mink as well.

I struggle with this, I generally don't favor bright ties but in the summer (with a dull suit) I think they can work well. The tie in the pic is far and away the brightest, loudest tie I own - I bought it to experiment with color.

Colors are brighter than IRL. Tie is a dark purple madder.

These pieces don't come together quite right. The navy tie with white dots, even though knit, is more city than country. Also, because the only color in it is blue, and your shirt is also blue, the jacket seems totally alien. Your jacket cloth has so many other colors and tones in it to pick up. I would either wear a navy tie with more colors in it (I wear a navy/yellow repp striped tie with a very similar jacket), or pick a different color tie altogether. Burgundy, dark green, or a dark rusty orange could be beautiful.

The square also doesn't integrate. Perhaps it's the way you have it tucked in, but all that white is very, very stark against the earthiness of your jacket.

Very Gutsy. Would love it if the square were different and the tie was just a tad darker. I think the square has too much white in it, and the accent color is too close to the tie. Gold could be nice. It goes very well with sea foam green.

#1 is excellent. Nice work with the socks.
#2 is weak. Too monochrome. White shirt with odd jacket shouldn't happen. Gray pocket square is also an odd thing. That said, very nice control of contrast.
#3 would be okay with a different square and darker socks. Is that folded silk?

Generally, I've found your outfits too monochromatic, and sometimes troubled with thematic divergences.

Sure, but the suit is quite dark. Even though it is a summer appropriate cloth, the coloring is more fall/winter appropriate. Thus, i think you need to compromise with the tie. If you want to do summer bright, the actual color needs to be more subdued.

A very light, silvery blue would be stunning.

NOBD: reminds me of another aphorism. While "everybody knows" that you are supposed to wear brown shoes with a brown suit, it's actually quite hard to do it well. Aside from black tie, brown+brown is the only suit-shoe combo where both are the same color. So you have the risk of not enough contrast (too matchy) or too much (jarring.) Very hard to get right.

Black shoes with brown suits is actaully and "advanced" move that I do sometimes.

I think nay's tie might work with the suit I have on (not trying to swipe), a rather dull olive cotton that is much lighter and almost drab. It needs something to wake it up. Indeed, the stripes on my shirt are a lot like the color of his tie,

foo, re papa, there is blue in the jacket. I don't feel your criticism at all.

rosals, quite good though I think I know that shirt pattern and am not a fran. Solid blue would be better.

Yes, or a light tan suit would work well too.

I don't think the problem with the tie is it's brightness--its not that bright. It's the color saturation. It is very, very saturated, as is the suit.

Last time I wore it with a white shirt and the mid-blue fresco we both have. Maybe a khaki fresco suit is in my future!

I did it a long time ago at an outdoor summer wedding. I heard about 100 UPS delivery guy jokes that night.

Yes, I know there is blue in the jacket. And that's the only color he's picked up in both his shirt and tie. The outfit needs more to solidify the casual, country theme expressed by the jacket.
