while i quite like your fits, lufty, do you have a very small neck size?
Thought I might post in here for some possible critique. Even if good taste seems to be limited to ties, here's a casual fit for consideration. Thoughts?
I always struggle with BDs and suits. Not a crticism just a personal thing - wondering how others feel?
Well, this could be a blazer and not a suit.
I personally don't like BD shirt and ties
i always thought the general opinion here was, that it is a very american look, and that if done right, it is just fine.
usually tho, i am in the gdl camp above, much prefer BDs with a SC or sweater and no tie. today i am wearing one with a sweater.
It is a suit. I have begun wearing them with sportcoats and suits and often with a tie.
Typically a knit tie but today tried something different.
I also like BDs most sans tie, but I'm not offended when they're worn with a tie, or even a suit. But rr's pic compared to bb's shows the problem, which is that without the tie, you get the nice roll of the collar...buttoned up with a tie, that disappears.
bb - I like it, but I think I would have gone with a different square. The jacket has a reddish cast to it, and you've got red stripes. I'd try to "cool it down" with some other color for the PS. Maybe something in navy.
rr - good taste, if unadventurous. I like the color and texture of the shirt.
It can look good - BD with a nice roll and a simple tie.
But in order to pull it off, I think everything needs to be more relaxed. The suit should have a softer shoulder. No pin or pencil stripes if it's worsted.
I don't especially like the look and haven't found a shirtmaker who makes a BD that looks good with a tie. I've seen some on the internetz but not in real life.
Had a predominately navy PS that I chose against last minute. The coat does have a slight red and tan undertone to it, so I felt the PS brought that out, while eggplant stripes called on the green in the jacket, keeping things grounded and more autumnal. Have to try with a blue next time. Thanks for the input.
Not classic or sedate, but I believe this is a tasteful casual rig. Tie is forest green wool.
no need to make any excuses, it looks good. Stay strong in the face of adversity.
LEVOOSH - boring? no. tasteful? yes.
The smallest one generally finds in RTW — 14.5.
I hate them with suits - however, I understand it's a very classic American business look, so it might be fine there. I love to wear them with sportcoats and casual ties though.
