Definitely a pro-brace man myself so I know what you mean about fit and feel. While I agree that fishtail lends itself far more naturally to braces, I still feel traditional braces look more polished. I prefer to wear belts over clip-ons. To each his own I suppose, as you appear to pull off clip-ons quite naturally well.

I've been accused of that, and everything else as well. This morning I had the sky blue version of the tie below in my hand, then decided it was closer in color to my shirt than I wanted and changed my mind. But I'm with you in spirit.

I have one and never wear it - I cannot imagine anyone would say it's a versatile tie. That said,I think it looks awesome with a tan suit and blue shirt (solid or bengal) but I know others disagree

The black knit goes wth everything, that's why it's great. It's also good for going out at night, and great for travel. It's a nice way to look "sharp" but still keep the slightly casual edge from the knit.

If we were talking about a navy knit, I'd agree, but I still can't get my head around the idea of a black tie, even a knit, with brown shoes, or an odd jacket, or anything in that family.

If one was only going to have a single black tie, which would be the more versatile purchase - a knit or grenadine?

You wouldn't wear wool/cashmere ties (that are not knits) with sport coats, Manton? (I just read in another thread that you only wear knits/repps)

Desu, I respectfully disagree with everyone else on today's fit. I think it fucking rocks. Love it.

o/o, thanks for black-knit-tie look book! I had a black knit in my hand while shopping on Tuesday, but put it back down. I think that was a mistake, but I think I was shopped out and had reached the point where nothing would appeal to me.
