I suspect it's just the photo playing tricks, but as pictured I'd favor a slightly darker shade of navy with that suit. I also think the pattern of the shirt and the weave of the tie are competing a bit.

yeah, i cant get the lighting right, the tie appears darker irl. hear your point about the shirt tie tho. i think i can get a better pic of that, and see what you think.

^The tie color in that picture looks great, I'm sure it looks wonderful next to the suit IRL. I think I'd still pick a different shirt to go with that tie though.

While those things the 'pros' tell you are definitely right, in my opinion your most recent fit pics have definitely improved compared to what you posted a few days/weeks ago.
Have you changed something about the way you select your items?
Were other members at the meetups able to give you valuable hints in real life what to work on?

that looks like a wool tie, which is an odd choice for an 80 degree day.

It might be that Panta linen tie? I think I'd prefer a neat or pindot tie to this one. Is that a purple pocket square? Same one that Manton wore yesterday?

thanks, dood! ideally i would use the same pattern and color shirt as what im wearing, but a larger check. sadly, i do not have such a shirt at this time. :(

thanks man, glad you are finding improvement.

i would say that i have learned from many people and many threads about what things go together, and what things do not. a lot of the stuff i had already, i was just pairing in incorrectly. and combine what i have with some newer and better purchases, and that i think is where the improvement stems from.

the meetup convo did not really focus on hints or dress tips. we talked about clothes here and there, but in a more general sense. also, i looked awesome that night. no hints were needed. :)

lastly, i still wear stuff that i know would not fly here. i do have things and combos that i like, even though i know they may technically not work, or be in good taste, per say. i just dont post them. yesterday for example, i was wearing a gap shirt. :hide:

I wear wool and cashmere ties all through summer.

Pindot would have been awful with the micro-striped shirt. Neat was certainly another option but I love this tie with this suit (any navy suit actually) so there you go.

I'd even suggest just a solid light blue shirt with some variation in the color and texture to it, like an end on end or pinpoint. You've got a lot of texture going on between the tie, shirt, and suit then, so that three solids would in no way be boring.

Did you just notice? I've posted many examples.

I like seasonal aberrations from time to time. I think I started a thread on the topic years ago.

Whnay - I am a difficult fit, to say the least - a heavy chest, very forward shoulders, very big hips and seat. Finding anything at all that looks decent is a challenge, and this was a first attempt at a 'vintage' looking DB. I will post my newer, lower stanced DB, and see if you think it's an improvement. My eye isn't sharp enough to tell.

    Stitches - W.Bill Linen.

Burton - Have tried simpler with this suit, and I can tend to look like an English colonialist. This was an attempt to have some fun.

Derm - Of course it looks affected. I am an affected menswear noob, it is my only currency.

Despos - Thank you for the feedback. The 5 x 4 spacing was intentional - I wanted it to look almost greatcoat-ish in the heaviness of the overlap. The lapels are skimpy, the result of working with tailors that don't always listen. Newer versions have been broadened. I appreciate your feedback - your work is beautiful.
