I almost never wear a suit, as my job does not require it. I'm wearing a lighter than navy linen blazer. It's certainly summery, albeit not light colored.

yeah, as gdl said, the overcheck is not good. Shep check ties are typically two colors, the gun clubs look like the jacketings thats everyone wears. Just like the glen plaid shirt that lufty wore that looked like a suiting, the gun club ties look like a jacketing, IMO.

Exactly right, this is what I eventually wore to my own wedding...I don't think I would wear something like this in a business-type setting. I went for the peak lapels also because I didn't want to wear something that looked too conservative, meaning I didn't want my wedding suit to look like a job interview suit.

    2 questions:
    1) Why doesn't Spoo post here? He has grail status on SF and from what I've seen would garner the tasteful moniker.

    2) For the last 100 or so posts most I've seen is no no no or sorta/maybe from you, gdl, umbrelgazzo, etc. If people are sick of seeing what doesn't work and want to hide or delete those posts, then how about you guys pull other pictures from cyberspace of what IS tasteful so that we may learn from them? (or was that 50 pages ago and we've moved beyond?)

    grazie

Looks like a very successful and tasteful (non black-tie) wedding outfit to me

thanks! It worked pretty well IMO for the look that I was going for....tried to do something a bit outside the norm that wasn't too garish.

I find Levoosh's outfit today to be in very good taste. Everyone has pet peeves and preferences of course when it comes to ties, squares, etc... but putting those aside, we should be able to see (somewhat objectively) when a combination works and is tasteful, and when it doesn't .

spoo, salt of the earth though he may be, mostly does not dress by my idea of good taste. no h8.

Funny, ed, I have a rather gun-clubby wool shepherd's check tie, I can't remember the brand, "Panta" or something like that, my favorite of the several ties from that brand that I own.

God, I may get bashed for bringing this up, but aside from the peak labels, this is very "Roger Sterling" from Mad Men. I think this is a good thing as I like the grey on grey or grey on silver look the costume designers on that show use for him. I think the suggestions of a darker tie are nice, but I like the somber look here and it is in good taste in my humble, and novice, opinion.

No it's got a tan ground and several colors. The only other poaster I know of who has the same one is that bearded Russian who takes pics of himself standing in the middle of the road. Bamis? Somthing like that.

I have the brown & cream one as well, the one in greg's pic above, and that is truly only two colors. different tie.
