saw the picture of churchill in a white DB suit on his thread. I have to say that I have never been atracted to the thought of a white wool suit, but that made me think that maybe when I am a lot older I'll get one.

anybody have one?

I don't like the really bright white suit, but I do like off-white, bone color.

Not DB, but I do have a couple of off-white suits. Pure white I think is a bit too much, but just off-white is more versatile. Pics from last year:

I like the pink/white combo. Looks very old money. I would, however, go for shoes with a lighter tan rather than antique chestnut. I think the white suit lost its formality long ago and is now considered more trendy and casual. Back in the 50s and earlier, most men can easily go to the most formal events in a white suit. But this is good news for younger folks because if you can look good in a white suit, you have reached the peak of sartorial Everest and probably know how to look good in everything else.

I am still kicking myself for not saving the picture but there is one of this guy

In a white suit paired with blue and I believe suede shoes, the combination and total look was impeccable as usual.

Yep, in hindsight you're right. Should have worn my tan Cliffords with that one.

The one on the right is an older Austin Reed MTM (when I was a bit heavier). It doesn't fit me quite as nice as I'd like, but it's still OK as a casual summer suit. Come to think of it, I think it's a cotton, not wool (the RLPL on the left is tropical weight wool) but the effect is the same.

Crazy, I think, is the word you're looking for...

The RLPL is tropical weight wool. The other suit is cotton.

And don't forget a little yellow daisy on the lapel:

I've always admired Florenz Ziegfeld manners and dress decorum:
