white shoes with dark blue denim

hi all. i tend to wear fairly dark blue jeans because of their versatility, and i've been eying some casual shoes for a while. was thinking about some standard white canvas converse shoes (yes, i'm on a tight budget lol). i was thinking white because i usually wear pretty bright t-shirts. they sorta look like this: http://www.seejackshop.com/images/up...e_Sneakers.jpg the problem is, my favourite jeans tend to get denim stains on things (indigo dye), even after about 3 washes now. there was even advice on the label to avoid bringing them into contact with lightly coloured items. is there an easy way to remove denim stains? should i just avoid white shoes altogether because it will look poorly colour coordinated? what are your thoughts?

I have never known decent denims stain anything in use.

What on earth are you doing with them or are they cheap nasty garments?

I understand your plight, as I am a fan of wearing white shoes with denim year-round. I would look at a pair of vans too. As for the "stains", some people (including myself) like the blue stained shoe look, almost as a badge of honor. That typicallymeans you're getting some roping going. Recently, leather soul commented on a new run of Alden chukkas they got in, saying they'd be perfect once they get some indigo stains worked in. I tend to agree. You may also want to direct your question to the "streetwear and denim" section of SF, or to the fellow denim heads on superfuture. Or just cuff 'em and show off your (hopefully) sweet selvage stripe!

Yes it does and it tends to stick permanently. Indigo dye bonds to materials electrostatically not chemically like most other dyes. Good luck getting it off things once it's stained.

they're not Guess jeans or anything but they're far from cheap/nasty :/

bigstickz thanks for the vans recommendation, but i am very slim so skate shoes don't really suit my build.

I should think the Vans recommended are the classic canvas ones, which are as slim as Converse. I prefer the converse but they are both "classic" trainers.

I spray my converse with water repellent I think this has helped a little in them not getting too indigo stained in the rain etc. and I haven't found them getting much on them just from contact. I like, and wear white ones with dark blue denim.

vans seem to be a lot more affordable, but i think i prefer the converse (chuck taylors). idk, they don't really have a good online viewer for vans shoes but they seem to have a different shape and are chunkier? i think i've sort of come to accept the fact that denim will stain on my shoes... turns out most people i know don't mind when it happens to their shoes

Interesting, I didnt know that.

While I've stained several pairs of shoes permanently, I've never had any trouble getting indigo out of shirts I wear with new jeans. Wonder why that is?

Resurrecting an old thread. Yesterday I wore new dark jeans with new white sneakers and the result was new blue sneakers. . . . Has anyone had success with removing indigo dye from suede shoes? Or from other shoes or shoe laces? Thanks!
