Big fan of both Barcelona and Last Days of Disco. Less fond of Metropolitan (probably because with every watching I keep being reminded of the fact that it's going to take me a little time to get past how stilted the dialogue strikes my ear before I get beyond paying attention to that and just start enjoying the ideas/wordplay, etc.)

I Loved Metropolitan. I think the dialogue suits the characters, who are a bit stilted themselves. That is part of their charm.

I was convinced he was dead. Hopefully, he continues to employ Eigeman and Nichols.

There's a profile in NY Mag as well. Seems to have rubbed the writer the wrong way, so Stillman comes across as an eccentric relic.

This is great news. Metropolitan is a work of art.
